FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — 16 April 2026
Brandon First used today’s Brandon Chamber of Commerce State of the City Luncheon to unveil its new 2026–2032 Strategic Plan — and to issue a community-wide challenge: begin preparing now for Brandon’s 150th anniversary in 2032.
The plan, titled “A Ticket to 150,” sets a clear roadmap for how Brandon First will help grow event tourism, strengthen partnerships, and position the city for one of the most significant milestones in its history.

Speaking to more than 400 business and community leaders, Executive Director Jennifer Watson emphasized that while the anniversary may seem distant, meaningful celebration requires immediate action.
“In 2032, Brandon will celebrate its 150th birthday. It may sound like it’s still a long way off, but if we want it to be meaningful, the work starts now,” said Watson.
“Consider this an open invitation — and a challenge. What role will you play in Brandon 150? What will you do to help bring it to life?”
Watson framed Brandon First’s role not as the sole organizer, but as a connector and catalyst — helping bring together the people, ideas, and organizations needed to make the milestone a success.
“Something like Brandon 150 takes the whole community,” she said. “Our role is to bring people together and keep things moving forward.”
A Plan Built for the Moment
The newly released strategic plan outlines five key areas of focus to guide Brandon First’s work through 2032:
Together, these priorities position Brandon First to act as a catalyst for new events, partnerships, and long-term economic growth through tourism.

A guiding goal of the plan is to support and advance planning for Brandon’s 150th anniversary — including attracting major events, fostering community-led celebrations, and helping connect ideas with the people and organizations best positioned to deliver them.
The plan highlights a phased approach to building toward 2032,starting with awareness now, followed by planning, team-building, and implementation in the years ahead.
A Community Effort
Brandon First Board Chair Grant Hamilton said the organization is proud to help bring focus to the opportunity and to invite the broader community to step forward.
“Brandon First is proud to help shine a light on the opportunity that Brandon 150 represents, and to kick off this community conversation,” Hamilton said.
“This is bigger than any one organization. Our role is to help convene, connect, and support the people who will ultimately make 2032 a year to remember.”
He added that the strength of Brandon lies in its people and partnerships.
“We know what this community is capable of when it comes together. Brandon 150 is our chance not only to celebrate our past, but to create something lasting for the future.”
Looking Ahead
Brandon First will begin engaging partners, businesses, and community groups in the months ahead to spark ideas and build momentum toward 2032.
If you’ve got an idea, or a dream, anything from an event or a festival to a major legacy project, you’re encouraged to get involved early.
“There’s incredible experience and energy in this community,” Watson said. “Brandon 150 will be in your hands, and we’re here to help bring it together.”
